comment on «1860 Review»

Have just tried to play 1860 two times, and even though the board is small, the game still have a lot to offer. The rules for insolvency, bankruptcy and receivership add a nice touch to the game. And the ability for leaping to up 4 stock places forward depending on the revenue, makes it more attractive to hold back the revenue to get an extra train. The only problematic aspect of the game is the even train prices - especially the 5+3 train. The experience from the 2 previously mentioned games was that the players who purchased the 5+3 trains ended up last. The 5+3 only gets to run 1 time before they are made obsolete by the 8+4 trains - and that is playing with the optional 7+4 train. Without the optional 7+4 train, I can easily imagine games where one of the 5+3 trains will never run! But this is the only weakness in the game, and all in all there are many great additions to the 18xx series in this game.
